PROGRAMS

We go into our 40th year grateful for the services we have been able to provide, and the community that has allowed us to provide them. We are committed to reaching more families in the coming year. Through outreach to community partners, and collaborations with schools, churches, and other non-profit organizations, Casa de Peregrinos vows to continue to develop innovative programs that break down the barriers keeping people from receiving help and address the issues of storage and capacity that limit our services.

Our programs help to provide supplemental, nutritional groceries to hungry and food-insecure families in Las Cruces and Doña Ana County, augmenting government programs such as the Women, Infant and Children’s food program (WIC), and the Supplemental Nutrition Assistance Program (SNAP).

Most clients are eligible for one distribution per month: a basket made up of the food products available at the time of service. Client eligibility is established by client self-declaration of income to the New Mexico Emergency Food Assistance Program Guidelines for the Las Cruces MSA. Clients who receive WIC or SNAP automatically qualify.

Recognizing that food insecurity does not have a one-size-fits-all solution, we continually strive to develop targeted programs that address the unique needs of different populations affected by food insecurity (e.g., the homeless, school-aged children during summer vacations, rural populations, seniors). It is a priority to us to maintain numerous programs that address the specific needs of food insecure families all over Doña Ana County. We work for our community.
