We could not provide food to people facing hunger in New Mexico without help from our community. With your hands helping in our warehouse, more children, adults, seniors, and families benefit. Our neighbors in need count on help from the food bank and our statewide network of member partners to provide access to food assistance.
Individuals ordered by the courts to perform community service often seek locations for community service opportunities. Casa de Peregrinos (CdP) may be a location where you can join our team to complete your required hours.
Court-ordered community members are selected and placed at the food pantry on a case-by-case basis depending on the nature of the offense.
Individuals with any of the following charges will not be eligible for court-mandated community service at CdP:
- Assault and Battery
- Kidnapping
- Child Abuse
- Hate Crimes
- Theft
- Attempted Murder
- Drug Possession of Any Kind
- Sexual Offenses
- Public Exposure
You will need to bring any documents from the court. The document(s) you provide to us should include any charges and sentencing agreements. If our staff authorizes your requested service hours, we will notify you.
Shifts are a minimum of three hours but may be longer depending on availability. If our staff agrees, you may perform service hours at the CdP. Please be aware that we require a minimum of 24 hours notice to schedule your first and/or subsequent service appointments. If a request is made in the afternoon on a Friday or during a weekend, our staff may not get back to you until the following business day or Monday (whichever comes first).
If you would like to perform your court-ordered community service at Casa de Peregrinos, call us at 575-523-5542 to set up an appointment to schedule your hours. You can schedule Tuesdays and Thursdays from 9-11 am or 1-3 pm. Our staff will follow up with you with additional information you may need to complete.
Every community service experience is unique. While we understand you are fulfilling a court mandate to repay your debt to society, it is our hope that you use this as an opportunity to learn more about our work, our mission, and take advantage of the skills and knowledge you may learn while in our facility.
If you have any questions for our staff about court-mandated volunteer opportunities, you can contact us at 575-523-5542.
We look forward to your opportunity with us!
