Community leaders, local influencers, and food advocates unite to raise $25,000 to fight hunger in Doña Ana County.

Casa de Peregrinos Food Program proudly celebrates the success of its 8th Annual 24-Hour Hunger Strike, bringing together more than 30 participants for a shared mission: raising awareness about food insecurity and helping ensure families across Doña Ana County have access to nutritious food.
This year’s Hunger Strike featured a diverse group of local influencers, foodies, and community leaders who came together to experience a small glimpse of what it means to go without food while raising funds to support neighbors facing hunger.
Among the participants were Jackie and Joey from Hot 103’s The Big Show and Becky Corran, Las Cruces City Council member, along with other dedicated community advocates who helped spread the word and inspire others to support the cause.

Thanks to the generosity of our participants, sponsors, donors, and community supporters, Casa de Peregrinos successfully reached its $25,000 fundraising goal, alongside an additional $25,000 in sponsorship support.
These contributions help sustain Casa de Peregrinos’ mission of providing food assistance to individuals and families throughout Doña Ana County. With more than 40,000 individuals served annually, community support plays a vital role in helping us meet the growing need for food assistance across our region.
We extend our heartfelt gratitude to this year’s sponsors for investing in our mission and standing alongside our neighbors experiencing food insecurity:
- GECU Foundation
- Law Offices of Matt Madrid
- HB Construction
- Eric & Donna Popky
- Southwest Center on Aging

One of the highlights of this year’s event was recognizing Emiliana as the recipient of the Terra Rothwell Hunger Hero Award, presented to the participant who raised the most funds for the Hunger Strike.
Emiliana’s fundraising efforts demonstrated the power of individual action in bringing a community together around an important cause. The award honors the spirit of compassion, commitment, and service that drives the Hunger Strike forward each year.
We congratulate Emiliana on this well-deserved recognition and thank all our Hunger Strike participants for using their voices and platforms to help fight hunger.

The success of this year’s Hunger Strike is a reminder that when our community comes together, we can make a meaningful difference.
Thank you to every participant, sponsor, donor, and supporter who helped make the 8th Annual 24-Hour Hunger Strike a success. Your generosity helps Casa de Peregrinos continue its mission of fighting hunger and nourishing hope throughout Doña Ana County.
